"Rather than being a big company, we choose to be a small enterprise focusing on niche markets and winning the top position in them."

Frost-prevention fans solving a longstanding problem of tea planters

Fulta Electric Machinery is the top manufacturer in Japan of air-flow systems such as industrial and agricultural blowers and exhausters. Based on the know-how it has gained through constant technological innovation, the company enjoys the great confidence of industries and keeps a strong brand image with them.

One of the major inventions of Fulta is frost-prevention fans for tea plantations. Tea leaves are picked four times a year and, the leaves first picked from late April to mid-May are the most appreciated, but tea planters had long suffered damage from late spring frosts freezing and blighting the new buds.
Fulta's idea to solve this problem, which everyone had believed was impossible to achieve perfectly, was to prevent the formation of frost by blowing down heated air to create a warm layer seven to eight meters deep from ground level, thus preventing frost damage. Many people doubted this idea, but the effects were soon obvious. The reputation of Fulta's frostprevention fans spread rapidly among tea planters.
Further, Fulta captured the unshakable confidence of the tea planters by providing dealers with detailed know-how so as to propose optimal systems to individual planters according to such parameters as the inclination and size of their plantation, the variations in climate, and the directions of the wind. Still today, the company leads the market for these fans, with a share of more than 60%.

Always in close contact with users

Building on such wind technologies and seasoned know-how as mentioned, Fulta has expanded its business into a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, agriculture, fisheries, stockbreeding, and tobacco plantations.
Choosing to be "a small enterprise rather than being a big company," as its motto states, the company has focused on niche markets and has won the top share in many industries.

Another key to its success is to quickly reflect customers' requests in its products, Fulta has set up its production bases in the pivot locations of each industry it has entered into. For instance, its production center for frostprevention fans is located in Shizuoka Prefecture, that for nori driers is in Saga Prefecture, and that for greenhouse heaters is in Aichi Prefecture, which is a center of protected horticulture. This is how the company continues to always be in close contact with users. By sharing their problems and through proposing solutions, Fulta can always offer products one step ahead of competitors.
