Narita MFG., LTD. has been involved in Shinkansen development since the beginning, and as regards Shinkansen gangways, we are completely responsible for their design and manufacturing. We have more than 90% market share in the rolling stock field, making us the number one company in our field. Automatic connected gangways, which serve specifically to ease disconnection and connection at way stations, are earning a high reputation as unique in the field.

Since inter-car gangways are affected by various factors, such as traveling conditions and weather, extensive know-how is essential in the selection of materials and compound products used in their manufacture, including steps. We have developed the world's first computer-controlled gangways test machine. It also serves as a prime factor in the consistency of our manufacturing top products that are highly appraised by users around the world.

We are aluminum welding professionals, and with our core technology have promoted projects in quest of high-performance work using robots. Making full use of our strengths in rolling stock, we have also endeavored to expand our business activities as makers of mechanical systems, while enhancing our products' added value by developing an automatic door system.

Concerning our overseas activities, we have dealings with three major rolling stock makers in the world (Bombardier, Alstom, and Siemens), since concluding a contract for the production of inter-car gangways for Singapore Metro in 1985. In 1999, we branched out into China. In terms of the manufacture of inter-car gangways, we are a "small global company".
